Assertive Community Treatment
Assertive Community Treatment is a team approach designed to provide comprehensive, community-based treatment and support to people in various types and phases of transitions. As our clients live in their own apartments and interact with the greater community on a daily basis, this approach allows us to engage with them in a wide variety of means and settings.
Services that fall under the rubric of Assertive Community Treatment include our initial and ongoing assessment, case management, psychiatric and psychotherapeutic services, employment and housing assistance, educational planning and support, substance abuse counseling, and other services as needed that are critical to the client’s ability to live independently and successfully in the community.
A major advantage to the Assertive Community Treatment approach is the ability to directly engage with our clients in the community, where many stimuli that have proven to be challenging in the past are encountered with safety and support from skilled and trusted professionals. The flexibility provided by this approach enables us to provide appropriate levels of support and freedom to our clients in a way that maximizes safety while promoting growth, maturity and independence.
Our staff helps clients to become less socially isolated by encouraging and facilitating participation in community activities and organizations. By using the community at large as our milieu, we are able to assist young adults in learning to navigate their relationships with others and becoming more integrated and connected to society in general.
